We want to start off by thanking everyone for the opportunity to serve on this year’s SGA and for putting your trust in us. It’s hard to believe that our time has come to an end. It seems like yesterday we were just preparing our speeches and reading them out loud in the ACC. We remember vividly how excited we were when granted our new roles; that sentiment has remained from when we planned our first event in the spring, Stang Skirmish, to when we planned our last Stables agenda.
Over the weekend, Pati and Nemo announced the results of elections for the upcoming SGA. With that news comes the bittersweet acknowledgment that the current SGA Executive Council's time has come to an end. Though we joined the SGA as separate individuals, we left united—a family with one shared goal in mind: to make Milton a better place than it was when we first elected. We have added Stables and planned agendas which alternated between “fun” and “reflective.” Our Boarding Monitors replaced dorm dinners with class dinners every Thursday, our senior class reps celebrated the sentimentality of numerous “lasts,” our Day Monitors managed the parking crisis, and our other class reps planned engaging class meetings and activities.
During election season, I asked a few members of the SGA, “How does it feel that our tenure is up?” They all echoed the same sentiments: though they are sad that time is up, they did everything they set out to do. As I cite our accomplishments, it would be unjust to omit our faculty advisor, Mr. Parisi. Thank you for all your wisdom, advice, and all the work you have done behind the scenes.
Lastly, this will be the last time Kaci writes in Kaci’s Kitchen, which is a bittersweet moment for me. Being the secretary of this year’s SGA has been a blast, truly. Thank you to Nemo and Pati for trusting me with this role and appointing me. I, too, share the fulfillment that my peers expressed, as I know that we made the most of our shared time together. I also know that we leave the legacy of SGA and all the new additions established in good hands with the new SGA executive council. I encourage you to treasure every Thursday meeting because the end comes very quickly.
From Coco’s Corner to Kaci’s Kitchen, you are up next, Rowan!
