Getting Hypnotized or Getting Tricked?

Chris Jones, a hypnotist and past America’s Got Talent competitor, brought curiosity, skepticism, and, most importantly, entertainment to Milton on Friday, April 3. A large crowd gathered in King Theater to get entertained, or, perhaps, to attempt to get hypnotized by Jones.

No Script, No Problem: Improv Night Entertains Students During Exam Week

On January 23, Improv Night drew a crowd of almost 40 students—as estimated by Anna Robinson ‘26—with many seeking a break from the midterm workload. As Dylan Chu ’29 explained, “the energy of the night was spectacular. Events like the Improv Night always bring the community together.” According to Chu, the relaxed atmosphere allowed students to let go of some nerves during one of the most stressful stretches of the school year.

Tiktok Trends Infiltrate Campus Culture

Tiktok, one of the most influential cultural forces on campus, is impacting students' language, interactions, and self-expression. Over the first semester, various trends stemming from Tiktok have spread quickly among students, creating a universal dialect among many adolescents. References to recent trends regularly creep into conversations and social spaces, and can sometimes even reach faculty. However, although these internet trends may positively enhance the community, TikTok trends can also present a risk to young adults.

“At the End of the Day, Beatnik Feels Good”

This year’s Fall Beatnik on Friday, October 11 filled Straus Library with laughter, rhythm, and poetry, as students across grades seized the opportunity to showcase their talents. According to the Magus Mabus setlist, there were 23 performances that night. Throughout the event, spectators packed the room. The four-times-a-year event celebrated Milton’s culture of creativity and authenticity by performing for an audience of students and teachers.
