We Must Stop Chasing Prestige

In the 1970s, one in twenty Harvard graduates went into finance or consulting. In fact, the fields of finance, consulting, and technology combined accounted for 53% of Class of 2025 careers. Princeton University similarly produces around twenty management consultants per thousand graduates. Elite colleges are pipelines to such careers, and that is no coincidence. More importantly, elite schools like Milton serve as the first stage.

Chris Lewis ’15 Takes Charge of Residential Life with “Student Perspective”

On July 1, Associate Director of Admissions and Hathaway dorm parent Chris Lewis ’15 will succeed Anika Walker-Johnson as Director of Residential Life following her departure at the end of the academic year. His appointment—confirmed in a recent Milton family newsletter and announced at Upper School Assembly on Monday, May 4—marks a transition shaped as much by personal history as by institutional need.

Strong Progressive Activism Highlights Gaps in Political Representation

For many teens, political engagement does not directly begin in polling booths or town halls but instead in friendly discussions, social media chats, or classroom debates. Since awareness of current events often precedes formal participation, students, especially those too young to vote, are left to navigate if, how, and where their views should be expressed.

Students Serve Broader Communities on Engagement Day

On October 15, 2025, all Class IV and III students ventured beyond Milton’s campus for the annual Community Engagement Day, spending their Wednesday morning volunteering at various sites across Milton and the greater Boston area. This long-standing tradition organized by the Office of Community Engagement Programs and Partnerships (CEPP) encourages learning through involvement and interaction.
