This year, Forbes Dining Hall has made another step towards sustainability: removing paper products, a change brought about by the adult Sustainability Committee, Sustainability Board, and Forbes Dining Hall. Unlike last year, when paper plates and bowls were readily available in the Dining Hall, this year the only paper items provided are coffee cups. Now, the sole way to bring food out of the Dining Hall is to check out a Green Container.
On Tuesday, May 19, around 60 students, faculty, and parents gathered in Straus Library to hear from Bisbee Prize winners who shared their U.S. research paper findings, as well as from students recognized for outstanding work in the social sciences as part of the Social Science Forum.
On April 6, 7, and 9, prospective students explored campus, sat in on classes, and heard from current students about their memories and experiences at Milton Academy. Revisit Days, organized by the Admissions Office, aim to give accepted students a chance to visit campus and try to imagine themselves attending the school.
On the evening of Thursday, February 5, Math Club hosted the first Pi Talk of the year, featuring statistician Al Ozonoff, who delivered a speech titled “How I Learned to Love Counting Without Counting,” which spotlighted mathematical career paths. Ozonoff ’s talk drew around 100 students to gather in the Farokhzad Math Center (FMC) and learn about math while enjoying dessert.
The winter season’s arrival in December means gifts for some, trips home for others, and organizing the annual Holiday Gift and Food Drive for the Community Engagement Programs and Partnerships (CEPP). This year, CEPP partnered with the Shaw-Taylor Elementary School to give gifts to students experiencing homelessness, the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to provide food and grocery cards, and Brookview House, a shelter for homeless families, to enrich the holidays for those families’ children. In total, Milton Academy gave gifts to 137 kids total around greater Boston.
On the evening of October 30, 2025, about 75 members of the Milton community gathered in the Farokzhad Mathematics Center to celebrate Filipino American History Month. Director of Equity and Inclusion Melissa Lawlor, English Teacher Kristine Palmero, International Student Services Program Manager Zuhra Abhar-Persson, Scarlett Cross ‘29, and Gabi Ramos ‘28 helped organize the event, which featured catered food, a slideshow, an informational video, and dancing.
